The automation of the production process of spirits

In the years 1998 – 2005 PRO-CONTROL performed a comprehensive modernization of the installation for the production of alcohol. The plant is one of the few in Poland that has an installation for the production of raw, rectified, dehydrated and denatured alcohol.

Scope of implementation:

  • installation of rectification and distillery
  • spirit warehouse,
  • grain warehouse,
  • stillage drying room,
  • washing and drying installation.

System description

Expectations:

  • increasing the quality of the final product,
  • increasing plant efficiency,
  • meeting the highest quality standards,
  • full process automation,
  • system reliability,
  • user-friendly system,
  • archiving of process data,
  • reports,
  • the ability to analyze the collected data,
  • phased implementation,
  • easy expansion of the system,
  • phased implementation,
  • easy expansion of the system.

Digital system:

  • SIMATIC
  • WinCC by SIEMENS System components:
    • 5 process stations,
  • 3 operator stations on the Industrial Ethernet bus.

The system supports:

  • about 2000 I / O signals.

A modern system of automatic control and control of the production process allows for complete supervision over all its phases, from the collection and release of the raw material, through its full processing, to obtaining the finished product stored in storage tanks.

Summary

The implementation of a comprehensive system made it possible to simplify the management of the entire plant, which is currently carried out from a modern central control room by only three people using computer stations.
The system automatically controls all drives, implements extensive control systems, visualizes each stage of the process, signals alarm states and archives all process data. The incorporation of the grain warehouse and the spirit warehouse into the main system allows for an accurate control and analysis of raw material consumption and the evaluation of the current level of plant efficiency.

The procedure of cleaning the installation is fully supervised by the implemented automation system, which guarantees compliance with all standards in this respect, and the duration of the cleaning process has been shortened.
The use of advanced and modern technology supervised by an efficient automation system allowed to increase the plant’s efficiency and ensure the highest quality of the finished product. It concerned both rectified spirit and dehydrated spirit. Especially the latter, due to its ever wider application, must meet the highest quality standards.
The system also supports the installation of the production of feed concentrate produced as part of by-product management.
